Summer Nail Varnish

If you couldn't tell already I'm very much looking forward to the summer, don't get me wrong I love a bit of minus temperatures and snow but I hate the bit between freezing winter and hot summer!

I love that this years trends are for bright, happy colours. Not only in clothes and accessories but for cosmetics and nail varnish too. Pastels and Ice Cream shades will be everywhere, luckily I already have a few in my collection! That won't stop me feeding my addiction for more!!

These are the nail polishes that I will be reaching for this summer, although I wouldn't restrict myself to just wearing them during the warmer months they are all wonderful colours for all year round!

One of the biggest trends this summer will be for minty green and turquoise nails. Chanel are about the launch a polish in this shade for their summer cosmetics line, its bound to sell out and be a cult colour.

These are some of the colours from my collection.
Cornflower blue is such a pretty colour and OPI's No Room For The Blues fits the bill perfectly. Orly have their own called Snowcone and will certainly be purchasing that one soon!

Another hot colour will be peach and hot corals. We have already seen MAC's Ripe Peach blusher sell out and their Ever Hip lipstick is flying off the shelves.

Essie featured peach in one of their most recent collections with Tart Deco, as did China Glaze with Peachy Keen. I have already worn the latter and had many people ask me if I was ready for spring, its funny how colours conjure up an image in peoples minds!

Personally I am still a fan of the natural, taupey colours that were around this winter. I still Love OPI's YDKJ but I am favouring a lighter shade for the spring

Butter LONDON's Fash Pack will be on my nails this spring/summer, it has a beautiful gold shimmer in it which you can just see in the picture.

Who doesn't love a nice pink?!

I am loving the creamy pastel pinks from Nails Inc, they remind me of English summer gardens with roses! Then the hot, holiday pink of OPI's Shorts Story all ways looks fab but particularly with a tan and pretty white skirt!

Wow! This picture makes me smile!

Do you have a favourite polish for the summer?

New Clothes!

I have recently lost some weight and I am finding that a lot of my clothes are too baggy, the perfect excuse to go and do a bit of shopping!
I'm sure you'll agree that your wardrobe takes years to grow and accumulate and I can't afford to go out and replace the whole lot! A lot of my clothes are from Monsoon, I have loads of skirts from there and they aren't cheap to buy in the first place so I am going to get a few of them altered to fit rather than re-buying everything! Anyway I digress, most shops will have their Spring/Summer lines out by now and unfortunately it just isn't warm enough here yet to go without tights or leggings or without a cardi and some days without a coat! Another month or so and it will be lovely.

I didn't have much choice but to buy summery items, never-mind maybe the summer will get here quicker and I hear its going to be a hot one!

My favourite shops are Monsoon, Zara, H&M and Laura Ashley. I don't have a Zara in my local town so I have to plan a big trip to go to one. Its big deal for me too as things used to be a little tight for me in there, now I can breeze in and pick anything up!
However I am having a bit of a crisis with deciding what I want to wear, really I'm a skirt and a top kinda girl and I wear scarves and accessories to jazz it up and I can't seem to break away from that style, maybe I don't really want to.... anyway I'm jabbering!
Let me show you what I bought this weekend!

I always come out of Zara with a scarf! I love theirs, they are so soft and light, this one is a perfect summer scarf. Wicker bags are my summer obsession and this little clutch bag was really cute, I got the last white one but they have it in black too and it was a good price, £9.99.

Pretty summery huh! I love white skirts in the summer, you can't really see but its a broderie anglaise fabric which is gorgeous. I love the colour of the cami, I though it would be nice with my new Zara scarf and my new Nails Inc Spring Mews nail polish! The flip flops are so me! Gold, flat and Swarovski crystals LOVE!

I thought I'd better buy something  can wear now so the cardi is perfect, I love the lacey bib! I have the taupey top in red already, it was only £7.99!

I got this Ri2k bag from John Lewis, it had 20% off for that day. I love Ri2k bags they are such good quality they are higher priced for the high street but not out of reach this one was £75 but I got it for £60. I needed a smaller bag for the days when you don't need your whole life in your handbag! The only thing I'm nervous of is that its a cross body bag which tend to hurt my shoulder if I put too much in. Still I LOVE the colour!

I tried on this tea dress in Monsoon but it was too big so I have ordered a smaller one but it hasn't arrived yet. Can't wait for it to come! I'll wear it with leggings and a cardi for now!

No more shopping for me for a while, I'll wait until Monsoon bring out some more of their summer collection!

What will you be wearing this summer?

NOTD - Nails Inc Apple Tree Yard

A khaki green cream, it's a very interesting colour.
I have nothing similar to this in my collection.
As with all Nails Inc it's wearing well and is still glossy after a few days!

Nails Inc - Ice Cream Collection

The postie brought me a lovely little present today to cheer me up on a rainy day! Nails Inc have brought out their newest colours in the Ice Cream Collection.

Ice cream colours and pastels are going to be BIG this summer, Barry M have new colours on their website, Illamasqa are releasing a similar collection and Orly have recently brought out their Sweet range.

My love for Nails Inc meant I would wait for them to release a similar collection!

The first colour in the box is the one I wanted most from this set. I had seen it briefly on the Nails Inc website a while ago then it mysteriously disappeared. Spring Mews is the hottest colour for the summer and a colour that you will find a lot of brands copying soon!

I received an email from Elle magazine today and they chose this colour as one of the most fashionable colours to wear this summer - here's the link. I have ordered a dress from Monsoon that will go perfectly with this!

Maple Street is a lovely creamy pink. It looks like strawberry ice cream or those shrimp penny sweets I used to eat as a child!

Devonshire Row is a rich creamy purple, I haven't seen an ice cream this colour and I'm glad I haven't! Its a light purple different to some of the other purples I collected over the winter!

Strawberry Hill is a hot but slightly muted pink. It's vibrant but subtle, I love it. It would be my favourite after Spring Mews.

I am so pleased with this collection, I bought a pastel set last year but didn't get much of a chance to wear them. I really feel I'll wear these a lot, I can see me having Spring Mews on my toes and one of the pinks on my hands or vice versa!

I bought the set from nailsinc.com and it cost £20.00.

Most Wanted!

This is a very shallow post and I apologize but I wanted to share some of the things I have been lusting after this week! The internet allows us to shop 24/7 and lets face it we love it! So here are some things I have spied this week.
Nails Inc Muted Bright Collection

I have only seen this collection on QVC's website. It has two of the colours I have been desperate to get in this collection, previously they were in other, separate bundles and I had all of the other colours! The blue on the left, Halkin Street and the khaki green in the middle, Battersea Park. I hope it stays in stock until pay day!

I am so excited to get to Debenhams to try this scent! I adore everything that Elemis do and I really hope that this is a fresh clean smelling fragrance, just the kind of thing I like. I have only seen this on the Debenhams site and I'm not sure if it is exclusive them or if it will be available elsewhere.

This is the Lois dress from Monsoon, again another of my all time favourite brands! I'm really loving dresses and the moment and wore a summer dress I recently bought at Monsoon for the first time yesterday and it made me feel fabulous! I feel like this dress would give me the same feeling!

Continuing my summery theme I love his bag, I am always attracted to anything with Flamingo's on it, i have now idea why! Maybe they make me think of hot Florida summer holidays! This is from Accessorize, its going on my shopping list!

OMG! I love gold sandals, but gold sandals with Swarovski crystals?!! Gimmie!! Oh and they are from my fave shop, Accessorize! I will be buying these soon, I do not want to miss out on these for the summer, I may not be able to wear them for months but at least I will have them in anticipation of a hot summer!

Well that was a very summery feeling blog post! That was unintentional but clearly I'm hoping for the summer to come soon!

New Essie Collection!

I was just cruising Transdesign.com to see if any new collections are coming up and came across this lovely collection from Essie.

The Wedding Collection

Now I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be getting married this year but I totally love this whole collection. I just adore these colours at the moment, pretty pastels and natural colours. I haven't seen any swatches yet but I really hope they are creams, Essie's last few collections have been creams so heres hoping!

They will be available from April 1st.

Leopard Print Nails!

Ever since the Minx nail craze hit the style magazines and the internet I have been obsessed with getting either the gold done or the leopard print. There are many nail tutorials on You Tube for leopard print nails but I finally had a go myself and I am really pleased with the results!

First I took three polishes, I used OPI I Get A Kick Out Of Gold, OPI Brisbane Bronze and Chanel Black Satin. If you don't have these polishes you can use any gold base, a light brown and any black.

I first used my base coat, I am currently using OPI Nail Envy, then I painted two coats of the gold.

OPI I Get A Kick Out Of Gold

I waited a few minutes for this to dry then took the Brisbane Bronze and painted random dots on each nail.

Again I waited a few minutes for this to dry. Then I took a cocktail stick, I was going to try a nail art brush but I found it a little to big and it got a bit messy, dot some black onto a piece of paper and dip the stick into the polish.
Then I made random C shapes around each brown spot, do some with one black shape some with two or three, make it totally random.
Make sure the black is quite dry before you apply the top coat as it can smudge and you don't want to ruin the whole nail at this stage!

The finished manicure!

I absolutely LOVE it! I am so happy with the outcome! I have had many compliments at work and a few funny looks, I don't think they understand the concept! I am so pleased that I really feel that I am not too bothered about getting the Minx version done! I will be doing this look on my toes for summer, I think it will look amazing with gold sandals and some bright sunshine!!

Totally Obsessed!

I made a previous post about the Saturn handbag from Tabitha but now it comes in another colour which is way more me!

YELLOW!!

OMG I love it so much I had to put my feelings out there!! I can't stop looking at it! Its amazing how a handbag can make me go all giddy! Click here to go to the Tabitha site

Fearne Cotton has one in black.

I always loved the bag in black but in the back of my mind I just wished it came in another colour way. I know black is a classic colour but I just prefer things a little more colourful! I hope to buy the Saturn next month just in time for the weather to start warming up and when I have saved a bit more!!

Another handbag that gives me the same googly feeling is the Fendi Spy

WOW!

It gives me goosebumps! I know this is an over the top reaction to something as trivial as a handbag but we all have something that makes us go all squealy and silly when we see it!

What's yours? Shoes? Rings? Chocolate?!

Fabulous fragrance!

I have been trying to find myself some new perfumes. There are so many available that I must be able to find one that I like. Well I can't! I must be quite fussy with my fragrance!

My perfume of choice for years was Clarins Eau Ressourcante,
Its a very fresh scent, Clarins describe it as a "woody-floral" and I would agree with that description. It is also designed to calm and restore balance, I'm not sure if that's true but I do enjoy wearing it.
I still love it but I haven't worn it for a while because I absolutely loooove Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche.

I'm not sure what attracted me to this perfume, I think I bought my first bottle in the Duty Free at the airport. Again its a floral fragrance. I just love wearing it! It makes me feel glam and grown up because its Chanel!

I recently borrowed my Mums Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and I adore it! I've always loved the scent on her and have steered away from buying it as its my Mums smell and it reminds me of her! I am most definitely buying this soon!

I'm starting to see a pattern here as Chanel describe Mademoiselle as oriental fresh. This is obviously a fragrance that attracts me.

Chanel is clearly my brand too! I was very excited to see that with the Summer 2010 collections they will be releasing a new version of Chance.

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, I really hope this lives up to my expectations! I hope its a rosey scent, I'm probably saying this because its pink! I do hope its floral, actually the model has flowers wrapped around her so that has to be a clue! I really dislike vanilla or musky fragrances and anything that is sweet and sickly.

What are your fave fragrances? Do you have any floral suggestions for me?!

Polish Prediction

I'm really enjoying the new collections that are surfacing for Spring and Summer 2010. I love that nail polish brands are finally doing a different coloured collections not just collections of red and burgundy colours. I'm not knocking those types of colours, I have my fair share in my collection, but I think it's time for change.

I think pastel colours are going to be huuuuge this summer. They started to make an appearance last year, I bought a Nails Inc collection in these very colours but didn't really get around to wearing it much.

China Glaze has recently released their Up and Away collection and it has just become available to buy on your favourite e-tailer in the last couple of days.

Illamasqa released pictures of their up and coming collection yesterday.

I have been looking into the brand Orly over the last couple of days and have found promo pic of their Spring 2010 collection

Pixy Stix, Lollipop, Lemonade, Gumdrop, Cotton Candy, Snowcone

I love the look of the Orly collection, all of the colours, and I haver my eye ona few from China Glaze! I hope these colours catch on, how perfect for a lovely summers day to be wearing a pretty pastel colour on your toes or fingers. There is a big trend for floral and more "girly" prints and fabrics coming on to the high street and I think these colours will be perfect!

Will you be buying some of these?

Carrie Necklace

I love Sex and the City and like to think of myself looking a little bit like Carrie, although I know I don't really! Who doesn't love her style, girly, cute and she always has amazing jewellery.
Her Carrie necklace made a huge fuss from the start. I have always wanted one and considered buying one many times but I am very fussy about the lettering and about the chain that it dangles from. Today the postie brought me my very own Hannah necklace!

I was thumbing through one of my favourite mags, Look, when I came across a feature they were doing about name necklaces and how they are making a comeback this year and of course with the second Sex and the City movie making its way to the cinemas this year, the Carrie necklace will be in full screen glory for us to drool over. Oh just me then!

They had a list of websites to check out but I was drawn to oine that seemed to have the perfect lettering and chain. http://www.kendijewlz.com/. They quote three weeks for it to be made and sent but mine only took a week to be made and it arrived a couple of days later! I really wanted the gold version but couldn't justify spending £95 on it so I went for the silver option which was £35.

I love it!

Check the site out if you want to wear your name a la Carrie!

Whaddya think? A trend for you or a no go?

A plea!

If you have seen any of my You Tube videos and read any of my earlier blogs you will probably know that I have a rather unhealthy addiction to nail polish! I obsess when I see a new colour that isn't in my collection, I squeal when I see an amazing colour that I HAVE TO HAVE!! I even have a list of OPI colours that I will eventually purchase!

I read lots of nail polish blogs, with my favourite being All Lacquered Up. Michelle, like me, has an obsession with nail varnish and has recently got me addicted to Butter London polishes, which btw are bloomin amazing!

One of Michelle's posts yesterday was for the new Spring 2010 polishes from Rescue Beauty Lounge – here. I got very excited by this colour, Diddy Mow.

Wow! What a fab colour! Thanks to ALU for the pic!

I have got one polish from RBL called Black Russian and its fabulous, a wonderful application and long lasting. But, you try and find this brand in the UK, HQhair.com have a pathetic selection and yet they boast that they are the UK's only stockist. This isn't the only nail polish brand that is difficult to get hold of in the UK. OPI in any kind of selection is rare, China Glaze is non-existent and have you ever seen a Zoya polish in Boots? I had to scour the internet for the Butter London polishes that I wanted to buy; I did find them but only had a handful to choose from when their back catalogue is much larger. Why do we miss out on these fabulous products?

I really think there is a gap in our beauty market here. Why aren't Sephora in the UK, do we not have the same beauty obsession as our YT girls in America? Why doesn't Boots go that little bit further to stock some more unusual brands? Even my beloved John Lewis doesn't have a decent selection.

Do you agree? Which brands would you like to see more of on our high street or at least available for delivery in this country!

Rant over. Thank you!

Most Wanted!

My two favorite handbags in my collection are both from Tabitha . If you haven't heard of them they are a small company but are loved by many celebs including Fearne Cotton and Danii Minogue and are often featured in style magazines. They are a bridge between high street and high end designer bags. They are very high quality leather bags and I always love their designs.

I am obsessed with this bag right now!

I neeeed it!!

I love the studded detail and it just looks nice and heavy! It certainly seems to be of the quality I would expect from Tabitha and at £265 I would expect it to be!

Here's a link to their website - Tabitha

I wish I was wearing this today!

I love floral prints and they are everywhere right now! Most of these items are from Accessorize where I would live if I could I adore almost everything from there! I am also obsessed with boyfriend cardigans, every single one I have bought recently has been in that style, a short one seems wierd to me now!

New Years Resolutions!

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and festive season and a good new year! I certainly did! As usual at this time of year we all make promises that we are going to improve our lives in the following shiny New Year well here are mine,

1. A cliché I know but I want to lose some more weight. This is my main priority this year! I want to lose at least another stone, I have lost 2 stone 5 pounds in the past six months so I know I can do it, I'm not setting myself any deadlines but I'll be disappointed if I haven't achieved it by my birthday in July.

2. I want to restart my Interior Design course. I started a home learning course that I thought I could manage to do along with working but I am so lazy I have just let it slide and have only completed one assignment. I need to give myself a good kick up the bum!

3. Take up a hobby. I literally do the same thing every night when I get home from work, I'm sure it’s the same as most people but I get on the internet and I usually stay there until bedtime! I need to broaden my horizons!

4. Save some money for a LV Speedy 35! A shallow resolution I know but I am terrible at saving any money, I spend everything on pay day! It would be a personal achievement for me to save up for something significant.

5. Work. I need to do something different at work, I don't want to leave my job because I enjoy it but I want to do something else within my department. This means talking to the boss.... scary lady!!

6. Update my blog more often! Thank you so much to my followers but I neglect this blog, I will do my best to update it, even if it’s just a FOTD! I enjoy YT videos because they are so easy, blogging means I have to use my brain which I have had on standby for some time now! Perhaps this is what I need to get the grey matter going!

What are your new year’s resolutions?
