Hey Sailor!

The first week of a new month means new MAC collections! This month I was surprised to see the release of their summer collection, Hey Sailor here in Europe before the US get it! 

When I first saw pictures online of this collection a couple of months ago I was super excited. I just love the theme especially with the nautical theme being huge in fashion and interiors it makes perfect sense to release a makeup collection in time for the summer.

The collection is split into two groups, face and colour. The face group features bronzers and a body oil to look glowy for the warmer season and having just purchased my first proper bronzer Nars Laguna, I skipped this section and headed straight for the colour!

Since this collection was only online and with no chance of me going to a MAC counter any time soon or at least before the stars of the collection sell out I had to order online blind as some of the bigger makeup bloggers like Temptalia have not received the collection yet as its only in Europe right now. Usually I would peruse the pages to be sure I don't own something similar but I had to go with my gut!

This part of the collection features the usual items you would expect, eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushers, lipglass, nail lacquers, pigments and a highlighter.

Obviously I headed straight for the lipstick section and I chose Sail Le Vie.

A bright reddy toned orange, Sail Le Vie is absolutely perfect for me. The others in the range are nudes, which I have trouble with and I certainly wasn't ordering without seeing a swatch and a red which I do enjoy but don't wear often and I have three anyway!

Sail Le Vie is similar to Neon Orange but it certainly has more a of a red tint to it than all out orange and is brighter and less coral than last years Hibiscus from the Surf Baby collection, also their summer offering. It glides on to the lips and is very bright. It's a satin, one of MAC best formulas.

Next I picked out the highlight powder, Crew.

I was attracted to the mix of colours on the surface however now I have the product in my had I think they are just surface colours and may only last a few uses. The highlight colour itself is a warm pinky peachy type tone with gold shimmer. I have yet to use it but I shall look forward to trying it out.

Finally I chose an eyeshadow. Jaunty is a warm champagne frosty colour. Similar to Retrospeck but more beige. Much easier to wear all over the lid alone as it's very opaque on its own.

I have really been enjoying wearing an all over gold wash on my lids so I was instantly drawn to this although if there had been a palette with the other colours in the collection, Navy (blue obv), Feeling Fresh (green), Barefoot (gold) and Jaunty I wouldn't have hesitated to buy it! I'm wearing it in the above picture.

The packaging is divine.

The blue and white stripey cardboard packaging is absolutely appropriate and when opened the the red interior of the box is a treat. The deep blue casing is perfect and MAC have used gold lettering which makes the collection feel special and exclusive. The products are pleasurable to hold, I know it sonuds weird but seriously they are super soft and slinky.

I may have purchased a blusher but I bought two in the Tres Cheek collection last month, If I happen upon a counter before they sell out I'll check them out but I'm not making a special journey.

Mini MAC Haul!

Bon soir! I'm in France this week and on the way here I indulged in a spot of Duty Free MAC!

I travelled on Friday last week and I knew that the new collections would be out. I was so disappointed to get through security and find they hadn't got them yet! 

My Mum and I were helped by an amazing MUA, she was so helpful and really wanted us to find things that worked for us not just to sell us any old thing. When I asked if she had the new collections she took me to a hidden drawer full of new makeup and I got to have a play around with the newest collections!

First up my newest obsession, lip products! I had a look around at the existing collections and chose something from the Style Driven collection, a Pro Longwear Lipglass in Whoops! I wore it today and I can honestly say it was amazing! Not just the gorgeous coral colour, the colour that flatters me the most, the products longevity is immense! I applied it in the morning and it saw me right through to the afternoon and if I hadn't been such a pig a lunchtime it would have lasted through lunch too!

Secondly I fell in love with a Sheen Supreme lipstick in Full Speed, it's a really bright pinky coral. Another style of product I have yet to try, the Sheen Supreme lipsticks are so creamy and glossy,  j'adore!

Finally on the lip splurge I bought an Amplified lipstick from one of the newest collections, Fall Colour in the Wild Colour section of this huge collection. Neon Orange is a very bright slightly reddy orange, barely neon but certainly bright. It feels a little late to be buying such a bright colour on the other hand it seems perfect to offset the rusts and mustards for the autumn.

My final purchase was a bit of a lemming buy! 

The Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade. I'd seen a few of my blogging and YT companions confess to their purchase on Twitter and had noticed it had sold out online in two days online. Presented to me in the assistants secret drawer I knew it had to be mine! I straight away said "Put it through the till!" It's a blue toned sheer highlighter with lilac and peach veins running through it. I have worn it a couple of times and I kinda like it but I don't love it yet. I'll keep working with it.

I'll do some pictures of me wearing them soon, I didn't do them today as I had a bit of a dodgy hair day today after attempting to let my hair air dry, I can promise I will not do that again soon!

Summer Smoky Eyes

I had a little play around with my new Bobbi Brown Tortoiseshell palette today, I'll admit the first time I used it I was a little disappointed, that's because I went straight for the gold colours which I normally favour. They left me a little flat and upset at my purchase.

Today I experimented with colour on my hand first and went for the darker shades in the palette, colours I don't have in my MAC palette.

I love this look!

I used Bronze on the inner corner and Copper Cocoa on the rest of the lid, then I tried a bit of Gold Nugget in the crease and centre and it lifted the look for a really bronzed summer eye. I then used MAC Fluidline in Dipdown, a brown liner, which I adore but mine is sooo dry I really must get a new one!

I finished off with MAC Dressmaker Dressmaker on my lips, and I can honestly say this is one of my favourite looks ever! I've felt quite glam, tanned and a bit sexy today! Unfortunately I was a bit all dressed up with nowhere to go but nevermind!

I'm writing this towards the end of the day and the shadows have lasted fantastically well on a hot stuffy day, I'm off to Zumba now so we'll see if they hold up during that!

MAC Wonder Woman Collection

DC Comics Amazonian heroine, Wonder Woman recently swooped down upon MAC counters across the world in a bid to beautify all super heroes that encounter the collection.

The collection features limited edition packaging and products, some possessing Amazonian features similar to Wonder Woman herself.

I really love the packing with the comic style images. The nail varnish and the lipstick have a plain red box inside the outer packaging.

The products themselves all have the Wonder Woman and MAC logos emblazoned upon the red and blue casing.

I purchased two blushers, Mighty Aphrodite, left and Amazon Princess, right. Spirit Of Truth nail polish and Marquise'd lipstick.

Mighty Aphrodite was the first sellout of the collection, two thirds of this extra large blusher is a very pretty golden peach with the remaining third being a more coral toned colour. I can understand why everyone wanted to get their hands on this one, I love wearing it, the swatch is awful on my hand there! It is very flattering on my cheeks, it makes me feel sunkissed and glowy. The look is very subtle and one I will be reaching for a lot.

The second blusher in the collection is Amazon Princess. The larger section is a bold blue based pink and the smaller section is a plummy tone. It's not as wild as pictures would have you believe, I can easily wear this colour even with my fair skin. I tend to reach for the main colour and have yet to use the darker complimentary shade, this may be better for contouring for a night out.

One of two polishes in the collection Spirit Of Truth is a striking blue shade. To be honest I chose the blue over the red, Obey Me, as I thought it looked better in the packaging! The polish itself is excellent, one coat would have sufficed however I did two just to be sure! 

On closer inspection it is very similar to China Glaze First Mate. If we are splitting hairs First Mate is the teeniest bit duskier with Spirit Of Truth being a hint brighter.

Hardly anything in it!

Marquise'd is a pinky nude with gold shimmer. I believe this is from a previous collection. Its a very flattering everyday lipstick.  I thought this was going to be "the one" my perfect nude lippie, I like it but I only feel ok about it! I like the gold barrel and it has a red star on it which must have twisted around.

Unfortunately there was a casualty in this quest for super human beauty,

My original Amazon Princess was defeated by the postal system, not even Wonder Woman herself could save this one! MAC customer services were excellent and replaced it immediately. 

Overall I'm pleased with Mighty Aphrodite and Marquise'd, two products I'm sure I'll use all summer.

Lippie Obsession!

I thought I'd share with you a piccie of my new lipsticks!

I have really got into wearing lipstick, it was always something I wasn't too bothered about but I really feel like it finishes everything off!

MAC Haul! +

I went shopping yesterday with the intention of buying clothes. 

I bought one top...

Most of my shopping involved drooling over the new MAC collections and making a large purchase!

So here are the goodies!

The Venomous Villains collection is MAC's most recent and one that seems to have split opinion. Some have been buying up the whole collection whether you be a Disney fan or a MAC collector. Some dislike the whole concept. I am a fan! I am a HUGE Disney fan and the combo of both MAC and Disney made me giddy when I first heard the news! I like that they made it edgy instead of cute.

The product most seem to be longing for are the nail polishes from the Maleficent part of the collection.

 I saw swatches of these and I have to say I wasn't totally in love. I reserved judgement until I saw them in person. As soon as I saw the sparklefest that is Bad Fairy I knew that would be a purchase but I think I got swept up in the hysteria around Formidable as it was the last one left. I have yet to decide if it's my thang. I'm just not sure that I like the two tone effect.

Bad Fairy is mostly a rosy toned glitter occasionally you will catch a green hint to the polish. The colour was great after two coats. It was impossible to capture the sparklyness of this polish but it really glitters.

Formidable is dark purple base with teal and purple glitter. It has as an oil-slick appearance. I wasn't sure about this one but I like it on. It most definitely needed three coats maybe four for a very deep colour. Again another sparkle-licious polish but the colour hasn't taken very well, I think this particular one doesn't translate well in a photo.

I also purchased a Mineralize Eyeshadow in She Who Dares also from the Maleficent quarter. Again this was a decision made on impulse and on hindsight I'm not sure how much I'll use it, however it certainly is a pretty product! The MUA had a swatch of the blue and green over a black Greasepaint Stick and they were incredible.

My last post was about the amazing Superslick Eyeliner I mentioned I was inclined to purchase more and I did!

Marked For Glamour, a gunmetal grey. Its a little darker than this picture would have you believe. I have this on today and I love the colour, to me it feels more casual than the black version a bit more daytime. Its not a flat colour either, it has some multi-coloured pearl when you apply the liner that dries to give a shimmery effect.

Defiantly Feline, a chocolate brown. I love brown eyeliner! I just think it look stunning with Mulch, Tempting etc. Again a nice casual, easy going look. As with the previous liner it has a pearl effect when wet then dries to leave a subtle glisten. While I was there I got a new Blacktrack Fluidline, a makeup bag staple!

I "Back-2-MAC'd" a few things that allowed me to get two lippies.

I replaced Lovelorn, a colour I had for about two days, wore once, then lost it!

Then I chose Speed Dial. I was really looking for an easy to wear pink.

They are different! 

Speed Dial is darker in colour, I feel Lovelorn is more blue toned. 

So that was what I got!! I forgot to get a new Retrospeck, can't run out of that baby so will have to order online along with a green Superslick liner!

My New Make-up Bag Essential!

On a recent trip to the MAC counter I picked up a new eyeliner. 

My faithful Blacktrack is on its last legs and MAC had just released the Fabulous Felines collection with the new Super Slick Liquid Eyeliner as part of the collection.

I threw caution to the wind and purchased On The Hunt a deep dark black.

I felt I could by Blacktrack anytime so gave the new one a go, I'm so glad I did!

Its an intense dark black, darker than the Fluidline I'm used to, its a real statement. 

The brush is fabulous, its sturdy at the base but has flexibility at the tip to allow for a flick or a wing, a trend that is big for the winter. I do like a wing and find this really easy to do with this brush.

The liner itself is extremely long lasting and it keeps is dark black pigment throughout the day and this baby doesn't budge! I wore it to travel home from holiday I had applied it at 10am and removed it at 1am and it still looked fresh, a little faded but not noticeable. 

I have a feeling these are limited edition, I will purchase a back up they are not sold out on the MAC website and are priced at £14.50. Other colours are available, I quite fancy the grey one!
